Alumni Chair Experiences
During the Fall of 2024, I had the privilage to be elected as the Alumni Chair for my fraternity, Lambda Chi Alpha. It was a great experience to meet so many great people that I may not have had the opportunity to meet and talk to had it not been for this position. I had a lot of different task with this role, but here are some highlights.
Bill Nash Seminar
One of the first things I did as Alumni Chair was reach out to one of our more notable alumni: Bill Nash. Bill is the former CEO of CarMax and helped to build CarMax from the ground up. After reaching out to him, we found a date that worked and he was generous enough to come and speak to the brotherhood, as well as buy everyone lunch. He did a great job of talking about what life was like as a Fortune 500 CEO, and how he got to where he was. We also had a great time talking about his experience in the fraternity and reminiced on some places and memories in harrisonburg. All in all it was a great experience, and I am still so thankful to Bill for taking the time out of his weekend to come and talk to myself and the rest of my fraternity.

Alumni Networking Form
During my time as Alumni Chair, I wanted to create a better way for Alumni and Brothers to network and reach out for internship and job opportunities. In order to do this, I created a google form which I then sent out to our alumni network on facebook and email for them to fill out. I was then able to send the responses out to the fraternity so everyone would be able to use the connected to their advantage. We also helped to develop the linkedin page we had to try and gain as big of a network as possible for brothers and alumni to use. At this moment the form has over 100 responses!
Other Accomplishments and Responsibilities
Besides what was mentioned above, I had other responsibilities as well. Once a semester I was responsible for planning our Alumni Weekend. In the spring of 2025 we planned it during the spring football game, and invited alumni back to the house, where we had food and drinks available for them. In the fall, we held our Alumni Weekend during homecoming, where we hosted all of our Alumni at a local restaurant called Capital Ale House, with food and drinks free to all brothers and alumni. It was a great time and an awesome experience for everyone involved. We also followed it with a tailgate before the football game and finished it up with a JMU football win!
I also was responsible for a monthly newsletter to all alumni, updating them on the status of the fraternity and happenings so they know what is going on, as well as any donation requests. I also was responsible for monitoring our facebook and linkedin page, as well as the fraternity email.
